A Gift to Stitch

I found this cross stitch pattern here. I decided to stitch it in red, which happened to be one of the recipient's favourite colours.

After one evening I had chosen the floss and started the project. (I can't help it, I love these scissors, they are so cute and bright.)

I had to pick up the pace there was a gift giving deadline approaching.  :)

After three nights I was almost done.

Here it is. Stitched, washed, ironed and framed. Completed it on time thankfully. (Just used a simple frame I purchased at Walmart.)

Can I sew a straight line?

I'll admit, the sewing machine and I are not quite friends yet. But I did manage to sew up the following. (Disclaimer: I did have to rip out a few seams and re-do them.)

I had a pair of old pants lying around that I could no longer wear, so I decided to test my sewing skills. After cutting equally sized squares from both pairs, I sewed them together in a checkerboard type pattern, as shown in the photo of the finished product below.

Both sides are the same. Once the top and bottom were sewn I placed both right sides facing in and sewed around all four sides leaving a 6 inch opening to turn the pillow right side out. I then filled it and stitched close the opening by hand. Something like this can be use as a floor pillow or even as a bed for your pet if you use less filler.

Stepping into the unknown.

After following a few inspiring blogs for the last few years, I have finally worked up the courage to dip my toes into the blogging world. An unknown world full of dreams and creativity.

I will be pursuing different avenues of my own creativity, following my whims wherever they may take me.
